In preparation for the Oregon Conference on Opioids + Other Drugs, Pain + Addiction Treatment (OPAT) scheduled for November 8–10, 2021, Oregon Health Authority and Lines for Life is presenting the first of three 90-minute webinars exploring the rise of the stimulant use crisis in tandem with the ongoing opioid crisis.
This webinar features Chris Gibson, Executive Director of Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), and Dr. John McIlveen, State Opioid Treatment Authority (SOTA) for the State of Oregon.
Director Gibson will provide an overview of the Oregon-Idaho HIDTA region and will focus on emerging data trends related to illicit stimulant and counterfeit pill drug trafficking information, including production and transport, as well as drug demand and availability.
Dr. John McIlveen will provide insight into how the overlap between stimulant use, polydrug use, and fentanyl impacts treatment systems statewide and nationally. Dr. McIlveen will also review the impacts of COVID-19 on stimulant and polydrug use and how health systems have adapted to provide treatment. Finally, Dr. McIlveen will review Federal and other policy impacts aiming to address the rapidly increasing challenges presented by stimulant and polysubstance issues.
