The Pain Standards Task Force (PSTF) is made possible by the expertise of professional providers and administrators from the local hospital and public health departments as well as from the region’s medical, behavioral, and oral health clinics. The mission of the PSTF is to create a health care system that embodies compassionate, patient-centered, holistic, and evidence-based chronic or persistent non-cancer pain care. Their areas of focus include increasing access to non-opioid treatment modalities for chronic pain, support public awareness campaigns, improve access to substance use disorder treatment, promote prescriber education, support the Centers for Disease Control and Oregon safer prescribing guidelines, promote the use of prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs), expand naloxone availability, and develop sustainable mechanisms for safe disposal of unused opioid medications.
